Baluchari saree, also called as Baluchuri Saree, is a form of garment worn by a large number of Indian and Bangladeshi women. The production of a single Baluchari saree requires craftsmanship of two people, working for one week approximately. They are produced in the regions of Bengal, mainly Murshidabad and Bishnupur. In the eighteenth century, the then Nawab of Bengal, MurshidKuli, brought the conception of Baluchari sarees to Baluchar, Bengal, from Bangladesh. This is why it has been named as Baluchari Saree.
